While cultures shape our experiences in unique ways, share a common humanity and celebrate life through similar moments of joy. The calendar, titled "Shared Days, Shared Joy", is meant to capture the desire to explore and appreciate cultural celebrations throughout each month of the year.
Project Reasoning
Not everyone has the time to research on cultural celebrations that they aren't familiar with, so I wanted to create a quick and accessible way for users to learn while also offering a practical product. My hope is that this calendar sparks curiosity and encourages people to explore the world around them.
Design Intent
- Highlight a specific aspect of each cultural celebration
- Seamlessly integrate text into each illustration
- Ensure the visual experience feels playful and culturally rooted
Outcome
Professors and peers reported increased cultural awareness, expressed appreciation for the vibrant illustrations, and indicated they would purchase the work if it were released in physical form.
